It was a GLORIOUS morning at Farmers’ Market. High points: the pink lillies, Jacob’s omelets and hot chocolate, and Russell (at Proper Plants) had the cutting celery plants and his famous tomato hanging baskets. (He has the best tomato plants in town.)

This three-year project began on 11.11.11. This year’s sequel is the Ace Twelve Project. And we will repeat it one more time on 11.12.13. Then, in 2014, the projects will be collected for a larger historic art exhibit as part of Ace’s 25th Anniversary celebrations and shenanigans, designed to collect and reflect on Ace’s 25-year institutional memory of the city of Lexington.

At noon and midnight on 12.12.12, we invite all Ace Readers to stop what you’re doing for one moment, and take a picture.
We made the same request this time last year for the Ace Eleven Project. More than a hundred photos were submitted and shared, from pros and amateurs alike, each presenting a unique portrait of Lexington, both individually and in the aggregate.
This year’s sequel is the Ace Twelve Project. And we will repeat it one more time on 11.12.13.
Then, in 2014, the projects will be collected for a larger historic art exhibit as part of Ace’s 25th Anniversary celebrations and shenanigans, designed to collect and reflect on Ace’s 25-year institutional memory of the city of Lexington. So, set your phone alarms now.

In this week’s e-dition, we shared this 2009 Ace coverstory about Mecca Dance’s 10th anniversary, responsible for Lexington’s wildly popular annual Thriller parade.
In this story, founder Teresa Tomb commented:
“We’re all people who want our sense of community and we want a sense of an artistic community. We want to live a creative life. It’s not that we want to sit in our houses and paint pictures while we look out the window. It’s that we want to live creatively and pull the rest of Lexington in with us.”
